Happy 2011 everyone. Hope everyone found a little bit of time for a little bit of relaxation. As you can see exiting things are off to a great start here at Taylor Sound. This is our new soundboard, a Soundcraft Spirit, 32. We (mostly Brad) is very excited. But enough about us. Let's talk about what the music is doing.
TIS THE SEASON....of contests and festivals.
SXSW and CMW are set to kick off in March. Calgary's X92.9 Xposure contest will be happening again this year and more than likely their deadline will be April. In preparation for this, we are happy to see bands starting to plan for it and start booking their recording times now. Kudos to you!
IT'S ALL ABOUT AIRPLAY....
2300 SPINS ON 22 STATIONS! Congratulations to Travis Pankiw and the boyz from Lounge Pistol. Brad was head engineer and co-producer of the self titled album. It was recorded at Starlab Studios in Saskatoon and mixed out at the old Taylor Sound location. A couple of tracks have since been remixed at the new studio and the two singles that have been released have done exceptionally well. A third is on it's way.
'Shades of Chivalry' peaked at #84 Mediabase Active Rock. 'I'm Not Ready' got to #73 reaching a major market audience of 80,000 and both are still spinning nationwide. The track "In The City" was selected for the Sask Music In-Tune compilation CD that will be distributed to some major music festivals this year including the CMW's, SXSW, NXNE and WCMA's.
Once again congrats to Lounge Pistol. Coming soon to a club near you! The album is also for sale at www.loungepistol.com. We also have some copies here at the studio. Just give us a call.
BBC radio program 'The Beat' has started full rotation of 2 of Black Phoenix Orchestra's singles, 'Punch Drunk Lover' and 'SMS'. BPO is finishing off the rest of their album with us over the next couple of weeks before they head out to this year's Canadian Music Week. Congratulations guys and good luck.
TAYLOR SOUND AND XPOSURE
Calgary radio station X92.9 features local indie bands every week on their Xposure show. For the month of January a couple of Taylor Sound bands received some love from the station, both receiving airplay and a performance spot for Sunday Night's live on location at Morgan's Pub. Congratulations to Rockets and Dinosaurs, Black Phoenix Orchestra and Atacama Republic.
Also, not to be missed, The Lions' track 'Invincible' from the album 'New Rise Of The Footsoldier' was #3 overall for 2010.
